Hebrew Calligraphy
As the Hebrew language is taught, our natural inclination to dance amid the letters and words is celebrated and encouraged. The Jewish prohibition of graven images gives the artist the opportunity to express creativity using only the written letter. The use of gold for the lettering is drawn from Midrash, a book of lessons which states, "We will make the writing with circlets of gold."

The Art of Papermaking
Different fibers are macerated and broken down with water to form a viscous pulp called a slurry. At this point, the artist adds sizing agents, colorants or embedding which will give the finished sheet of paper its unique qualities.
The thickness and texture of the sheet are determined by one of two techniques: "dipping" where layers of the slurry are skimmed onto various screens or molds for thinner, smoother sheets; and "pouring," where the slurry is actually poured through a screen, creating thicker, texturally uneven sheets.
As the slurry dries, a molecular bond forms between the hydrogen in the water and the cellulose molecules of the fiber. Then the finished paper is manipulated
to the artist's satisfaction.
